Time to go ALL IN!

Time to go ALL IN!

Ever look back on your life and wonder how different things would have been had you made the changes needed to get results sooner?

It was the beginning of January 2006 and I got a call from my mum in South Africa,

"Granny was going into hospital for a routine ECG and she's slipped and fallen and broken her femur, please will you call her to catch up, you know how much she misses you." You see I was born on her 45th birthday so we shared a special bond and had more in common than I realised growing up. So I called, "Yes, Colette, it's just a routine op, they have to put pins in my leg, I'll be out soon. I'll be glad to have this done so I can keep up with my fancy man" We laughed. Her infectious sense of humour always made me giggle.

"Ok, gran well I wish you a speedy recovery, hope it all goes well, I'll send you a little something to keep you busy while you are in the hospital, love you, bye."  I got off the phone and sent her a bedside garden that she could enjoy while she recovered with a wild rose, she loves roses I thought. We chatted again once the garden had arrived and she promised me she would plant the garden as soon as she was out and about. "Won't be long and these little babies will be planted and putting down proper roots, thank you for thinking of me, bye, love you."

A few days after the operation she was up and mobile and having physio, she was on the mend! Almost ready to go home which was fantastic news until I received another call from my mum.

It was THAT call from my mum ... to say that granny had passed.

It was a moment for me stopped in time.

She had developed an aneurysm and she had gone. Her voice cracked and there was silence on the phone.  I could feel her pain as she cried, all I wanted to do was put my arms around her and weep with her, to say goodbye. Even writing this story has been emotional. I am sitting here with my eyes filled with tears, it was a such a tragedy and something that should never have happened. My granny was gone. A massive void in our lives created and there was nothing that could be done to bring her back.

She was the person that always called to wish me a happy birthday at a ridiculously early hour of the day, up with the sparrows again I would say ... she would sing happy birthday, I would laugh and we would catch up on stories of birds, bees and crocodile trees. I loved her.

She had overcome so much in her life, single mum to 3 children, she worked hard and still found time to see her family. She always told me how important it was in life to smell the roses, something I do regularly, can't walk past a rose without stopping. She surrounded herself with rose bushes and spent hours tending to her garden, she was a busy bee and never stopped for one minute.

She was a strong, driven woman who knew what it meant to take care of things. She had travelled and explored the world, was sociable and would chat with anyone, she loved waffles and making jam. I will never forget her and the lessons she taught me growing up.

What does his have to do with going all in?

Well, it's in moments like I have described above that we are given a gift, that's a gift of reflection as we look at our own future, it is almost like looking into a mirror where we see our own lives and we are offered an opportunity to assess where we are at in life and make changes and to refocus our efforts if needed.

So while reflecting on the sad events that unfolded for us that year, for me, choosing to go all in is about life, living to the full and enjoying precious moments with friends and family, it's about success in business and finding a balance so I don't spend every waking moment working but allow myself time to feel happy and to feel fulfilled. To leave this planet without regret, knowing I have done all I can to be the best I can be.

I have no doubt that my granny had a tough but amazing life, fulfilled on many levels. She really knew what it meant to follow her heart. For me, it's about putting aside the past, stepping into my passion and doing what I need to achieve my objectives NOW so that in 20 years from now I know I've done all I can so I won't be feeling like I've missed out on anything.

Instead of a lack of health, connection and success in every area of my life... I'll be cherishing the memories I've created doing the things I love with friends and family, thinking wow that was a good life!

Why Even Try?

Why Even Try?

There I was reviewing my end of year figures and feeling a little deflated given how much effort I'd put into achieving the numbers ... you know that moment of realisation that things just weren't adding up and that an entire year of investment equalled the number on the spreadsheet.

It screamed out to me ... NOT ENOUGH!

Not enough money for the level of effort ...

Why did I always feel the need to compare my performance against that of my peers?

May as well give up! Why even try? What is this all about? and why is my income the measure of worth? of value added? of lives touched?

So feeling blue, I sat watching the world go bye lost in my thoughts, feeling deflated, frustrated and desperate to do better ... I just couldn't fathom how ...

Driven to be the best I can be, to add real value to others lives and my own and at this point, I felt like I was dropping the ball ... I knew I had to do something!

So I started doing some research, I read article after article about business, about generating revenue, looked at various marketing gurus and what their approach was to marketing my products, how to structure my content, what to write about, how to find the best clients that would really benefit from my message and the strategies that I teach.

I had to find a way to add more value and get paid what I am worth, after all, I'm in business and it was time I went ALL IN!

Besides this is about living the dream, creating an ideal lifestyle where I get to do the things I love and inspire an army of female entrepreneurs who want the best out of life, and everything it has to offer.

Finding the women who are cut from the same cloth who are as committed as me to do what it takes to create their dream lifestyle. Willing to make the necessary changes to get their health and fitness back and to create space so that they live in balance. A tribe of women who support and value each other, who stand together and support each other because ultimately we are stronger together and together we can make this world a better place.

I realised that I had to jump in boots and all and get the support I needed to fundamentally change the way I thought about life and viewed the world ...

I HAD TO BE ALL IN!

This was the beginning of my lifestyle transformation which affected my biz, my relationships, my attitude to life and I found a formula that worked for me, I put it together and created The Ultimate Body Formula Program to take female business owners from feeling stuck, undervalued and overworked into a place of balance where their value is attached to fulfilment rather than a number, its amazing that when you stop focusing on the money and focus instead on serving your clients everything else falls into place.

The most fundamental transformation has been in my mindset, my perception of my value and how I see myself.

I realised that if I didn't value myself enough if I wasn't willing to step up and take action then I could not expect to see changes happen around me ...

I had to be the change I wanted to see ...

Stepping up to be the goddess I knew I could be ... meant I had to go ALL IN!

Certainty … How do we get it?

Certainty … How do we get it?

Ever wondered why we need hard evidence that something works before we take a leap of faith? A bit like jumping out of an aeroplane with a parachute on your back that you haven't checked and double checked, certain it's going to open when it should.

The free fall is only going to be fun until you pull the cord and realise nothing is happening, the shoot isn't opening, there is no safety net, no one to catch you and slow your fall as you head towards the ground ... holding your breath, bracing your body as you anticipate the impact ... this is the stuff of nightmares.

OK, so I'm being dramatic ... only to illustrate a point. The truth is that needing certainty is a basic human need, we need to be sure of an outcome before we jump ... correct?

Think about your own attitude to change, do you want more certainty before you commit? actual evidence of the outcome, the actual result and what it looks like?

Making changes to the way we do things sometimes feels like a great big leap into the unknown, some of us have an appetite for taking risks, some of us need more evidence before we leap and others need an ironclad guarantee ... most of us just need a little push in the right direction and we are off.

What if I told you that we create our results, we engineer the outcome, it takes courage to see beyond our expectations and our experience to truly experience life in a different way, this is in our control and is 100% about 100% ...

Let me give you an example ...

I hopped onto the scales and the number hadn't moved in a month!

A month of eating well, no alcohol, one fun food meal a week, tough focused workouts, sticking to the protocol laid out for me 60% of the time ... that should be enough to see a dent in the scales right?

I told myself that I am a work in progress ...

I've got loads on the go, besides I'm not striving for perfection ... even though I had plans to compete again in 6 months and I had to be as physically perfect as I could be ... even now I smile at myself and my attitude right there ... you see I had started my prep with 60% commitment.

Where is the 100% - boots and all - level I knew I needed? It's no surprise then that my outcome was 60%.

So I continued for another month with a fresh perspective, I started to make space for my workouts, to prepare my meals so I wasn't guessing and I started to see a few changes to my body composition, I started to feel better about myself. I realised that the first thing that goes when I feel the pressure is the time in the gym, time with friends and family, time for me and with all things considered, honestly I was still only at 70% ... unhappy about the situation, beating myself up because I wasn't making progress fast enough, I knew I could do better and yet I had to acknowledge that I was creating the outcome ... creating the results I was seeing ... 70% ... by my action or lack of it!

When I look back at my life at that point, I realise now why I couldn't be 100% ... ALL IN!

It's because I had too much on the go demanding my time, my focus, my energy and while I thought 70% in this area was good enough it wasn't. 70% is never good enough because 70% will get you 70%  ... I realised that I was creating the outcome ...

There is a BIG SHIFT in mindset required to realise this, no matter how big or small the change it takes jumping in boots and all and being 100% committed to your desired outcome and doing what you need to do to get there ...

We create the outcome ... no one can give you a guarantee that you will get results, it's down to your level of commitment and focus and your 100% ...

Are you there ??

Are you certain of the outcome you want?

The lifestyle you want to create?

The level of health and fitness you need to actually live your life to the full and enjoy time with friends and family, to be totally committed to your business and still able to create the space you need to enjoy the little things that make you happy?

Find out what I do to ensure that I am 100% focused every day. Find out how I create space in my day so that I can do the things I love and still get stuff done.
